Are We Complete?

Are we complete? If not how may we become complete?

It says in Genesis 2:18 (NKJV) – “And the Lord God said, “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.”
I think it is fair to conclude that God means that it is not good for people to be alone. We should therefore be involved with family, friends and community.
If we are all alone it would seem that we are somewhat incomplete.

Children come into the world totally unable to sustain themselves alone. They may be dependent on their parents for the next 18-20 yrs. There must be places in their brains, which God has created, for parents, sibblings, friends and teachers etc. If there is nobody in those places in our minds there is an emptiness. We are incomplete. However even when all these needs of life are filled and satisfied there is still have an emptiness. We tend to busy ourselves with all kinds of activities in order to fill that void, as the song says – “Looking For Love in All the Wrong Places”.

God has also created a place for himself in our minds and hearts. Ecclesiastes 3:11 says
” He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts.” To say God put eternity in their hearts means he made a place for himself there. If he is not present within us then that place is empty – and we are incomplete.

How may we become complete? Peter said in Acts 2:38 “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” When we receive the gift of the Holy Spirit then the God shaped place in our hearts is filled.

I believe the purest motive for wanting and praying for God to lead us to repentance is that we love Jesus and desire to spend the rest of our lives with him. We want him personally – to have a personal relationship with him – not for what he can do for us.
When choosing a life long marriage partner, most people understand that there is more involved than money and material things.

God told Adam and Eve that a man and a woman should leave their parents and cleave together as one flesh . Therefore when we become Christians we should spiritually foresake all, leave everything behind, cleave to Jesus and become one in Spirit.

In conclusion let us read Colossians 1:26-27 … ” the mystery which has been hidden from ages and from generations, but now has been revealed to His saints.
27 To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.”

To God be the glory.
